Body of young woman found with burn wounds in Sakhile, Standerton

An eyewitness accounted last seeing the deceased in the company of an elderly woman and a man. The victim was apparently forced into a Quantum taxi.

The body of a young woman was found in a wetland crossing between Ext 9 and Rooikoppen in Sakhile last Tuesday morning.

A community member flagged down a policeman patrolling around the Rooikoppen area at about 07:00 with information about a body in the wetlands.

The policeman found the woman’s body behind the new sewerage plant.

According to Sakhile police, the woman was lying on her back on a cement block. The half-naked body had burn wounds on the thighs, belly and breasts.

No clothes were found around the scene which indicates the woman’s body was dumped there. Despite the mention from other sources that this was a 14-year-old girl, the police reported the victim was in her mid-20s.

An eyewitness accounted last seeing the deceased in the company of an elderly woman and a man. The victim was apparently forced into a Quantum taxi.

According to the police report, more information received indicated that the deceased had allegedly stolen a cellphone from a family member.
