Wet Nose helps Dog back on his feet

The new year brought a new family and a happy-ever-after story for this animal.

Life changed for Simba, a stray dog with a broken leg, on the eve of 2025. The new year brought a new family and a happy-ever-after story for this animal.

Simba was rescued and taken to the Wet Nose Animal Rescue Centre in August.

His heartbreaking story began with confinement and weeks of wandering, ending with a severe injury – a front leg broken in two places.

Despite the pain and hardship, Simba’s gentle spirit touched everyone he encountered. Declan Rodocanachi, a dedicated member of the Wet Nose team, was closely involved in Simba’s recovery.

“When Simba first came to us, it was clear he had endured so much. He was scared, in pain, and his leg was in terrible shape. But even then, he had this spark; a resilience that gave us hope,” said Rodocanachi.

The road ahead was not easy. Thanks to generous donations from the community, Simba underwent life-saving surgery to repair his leg.

“After his surgery, we focused on keeping him comfortable and ensuring the protection of his leg. He had to wear a splint for weeks, and it was clear he was frustrated at times. But he never lost his playful, loving nature. It was incredible to see.”
Months of careful rehabilitation followed.

“Every small milestone was a victory. The first time he wagged his tail after surgery, it brought tears to our eyes. Watching him grow stronger day by day was a privilege,” Rodocanachi said with a smile.

Simba’s determination and the unwavering care of the Wet Nose team paid off.

Simba is on the mend with a cast on his right front leg.

“By the time his splint came off, he walked with confidence. We knew he was ready for his next chapter – a forever home.”

Rodocanachi recalled the bittersweet moment on December 31, when Simba’s journey with Wet Nose ended.

“It was emotional for all of us. Watching him walking out of the centre with his new family was pure joy. Knowing he will live the life he deserves made every challenge worthwhile,” he admitted.

Simba’s story would not have been possible without the collective effort of compassionate individuals.

“The support from our community was overwhelming. From donations for his surgery to people spreading his story; every bit of kindness made this happy ending possible,” Rodocanachi said.

Rodocanachi concluded with a heartfelt reminder: “While Simba’s story is inspiring, there are still many animals waiting for their second chance.

“Every adoption, sponsorship, and sharing of a story makes a difference. If Simba taught us anything, it is every life is worth fighting for.”
