Bronkhorstspruit SAPS campaign builds relationships
“The main objectives were to build relationships and teach communities about crime prevention strategies.”
Law enforcers held a crime awareness campaign on the N4 at the Diamond Hill Plaza, direction eMalahleni, on February 13.
The Bronkhorstspruit SAPS commander, Colonel Simon Dhladhla, the Bronkhorstspruit CPF, Gauteng Traffic Wardens, the Mali Martin Phologong Centre, Gauteng Traffic, the TMPD, and the Department of Home Affairs went out in force with the primary goal to build relationships between the SAPS and the community.
“The main objectives were to build relationships and teach communities about crime prevention strategies,” said Constable Cathrine Ramovha, the communication officer for the Bronkhorstspruit SAPS.
The campaign covered substance abuse, crimes against women and children, theft, house burglary, robbery, sexual offences, domestic violence, assault and human trafficking.
“The team encouraged community participation in crime reduction projects. They were also encouraged to report crimes and not withdraw cases involving women and children.
“By disseminating information on hitchhiking, hijackings and road safety, the campaign also urged the public to drive carefully. Pamphlets addressing the topics were distributed among the public,” Ramovha concluded.
