Sasol Marathon Club shines at Goldi Marathon in Standerton

This event drew 920 runners to Standerton for the 10km, 21.1 km and 42.2km road races.

The Sasol Marathon Club excelled at the annual Goldi Marathon on March 21. Runners from this club clinched the winning spots in the 42.2km, 21km and 10km races.

This event drew 920 runners to Standerton for the 10km, 21.1 km and 42.2km road races.

Overall, 312 runners entered the 42.1km race, 301 in the 21.1km and 307 in the 10km track. Only 808 finished the long run.

Tshiamo Lepoto finished the 42.2km race at 2:32:06. Lucas Mputhi, from the Bethlehem Marathon Club, came in second at 2:52:57. Siboniso Kubeka (2:57:30) of the Hollywood Marathon Club finished third.

Salome Cooper from Jeppe Marathon Club (3:09:26) was the first woman to finish the 42.2km race, followed by Sheree Rogers (3:39:33) from Boksburg in second place and Meintjie Jansen (3:44:50) of the Lake Umuzi Marathon Club third.

Siyabonga Xonana from the Sasol Marathon Club was the first to cross the finish line in the 21.1km. He completed the race at 1:10:45.

Lucas Jani from Maxed Elite was second at 1:14:18 and Nkosinathi Thela from the Leandra Athletic Club was third at 1:19:52.
Annika Prinsloo completed the 21.1km run first in 1:27:42 in the women’s category.

Wendy Msezane from the SAPS Marathon Club finished second (1:35:26) and Xoli Madida third (1:36:59).

Sasol’s Sifisosethu Twala won the 10km race at 33:31. He was followed by teammate Bongani Mbogane (33:42), with Thunto Monqoba (35:43) from Leandra Athletic Club in third place. Corlize Stoltz was the first woman home in the 10km race at 39:56.
