Runners, walkers move with parkrun in Standerton

This 290th event produced seven first-timers, four personal best times and 18 volunteers.

Seventy-five runners and walkers participated in the parkrun at the Riverpark in Standerton on March 22.

This 290th event produced seven first-timers, four personal best times and 18 volunteers. Nadine Hoop, Pauli Kriek, Dirk Smit and Alice Avenant improved their best times.

A teenager, Bongane Mpokane was the first finisher. His time was 19:15, followed by young Thabo Patrick Tsotetsi (22:07).

Pieter Jansen van Vuuren finished the 5km route in 23:39, followed by Eugene Viljoen (25:42), Wayne van Zyl (28:56), Wassie Rossouw (30:12), Kevin Armitage (30:21), Andrew Ainsworth (30:52), Andiswamahlubi Hadebe (30:58) and Sbusiso Sebiloane (32:20).

The volunteers who made the event possible, are Renette de Sousa, Preyanka Dorasamy, Rudolf Hoffman, Lizette Jansen van Rensburg, Séan Jansen van Rensburg, Catherine le Roux, Gerhardus le Roux, Sylvy Moodley, Jennifer Naidoo, Strini Naidoo, Ishara Pillay, Kay Pillay, Marion Jean Robertson, Conrie Roets, Lydia Roets, Zeldine Strydom, Charl van Wyk, Leandri van Wyk, Daniel Wright and Noluthando Zweni.

The Standerton parkrun takes place every Saturday at 08:00 at the River Park.
