Gert Sibande TVET College celebrates excellence
Keynote speaker Vusi Thembekwayo, a celebrated entrepreneur and author, underscored the vital role teachers play in moulding the future of society.
The Gert Sibande TVET College held its 2024 Academic and Support Staff Excellence Awards ceremony at the Graceland Hotel, Casino and Country Club in Secunda on March 17.
Esteemed guests, including council members, the acting principal, deputy principals, senior management, campus managers, heads of departments, education specialists, assistant directors, the Student Representative Council (SRC) president and secretary general, lecturers, staff, and sponsors from Sphola International, Mtshali and Chilwane Attorneys attended.
Acting deputy principal of academics Bafana Motha welcomed the attendees and emphasised the importance of recognising and celebrating excellence in the college.
The college’s council chairperson, Doctor Thulane Ramasehla, delivered a message of support on behalf of the council members. He commended all the college officials for their dedication and excellence in ensuring the institution’s continued success.

The awards presented included National Certificate Vocational (NCV) best-performing lecturers per campus, NCV best-performing lecturer in the college, NCV best-improved campus, Report 191 (national accredited technical education diploma) best-improved campus and Report 191 best-performing campus.
Special awards went to staff members who significantly improved their academic qualifications.
Deputy principal of innovations, Jabhi Nkosi, thanked the sponsors and guests and emphasised the college’s commitment to promoting excellence and entrepreneurship among its students.
The event was a testament to the college’s dedication to recognising and rewarding outstanding achievements and its commitment to shaping the future of education.
