Wet weather doesn’t stop parkrunners in Standerton
41 people brave the mud pools.
Rain or sunshine – when it is time for parkrun, nothing curbs the enthusiasm. The mud pools, drizzle and cold breeze on Saturday morning did not deter the 41 parkrunners from completing the 5km Standerton parkrun at the river park.
Pieter Jansen van Vuuren, Elihle Zikalala and Dennis Kumm improved their personal best times. Jansen van Vuuren was also the first finisher. He completed the route at 22:18.
Jurgens Hayes from Team Vitality completed the run in 22:57, followed by Eugene Viljoen (25:08), Elihle Zikalala (25:34) and Mbali Nkutha (28:08), Parth Jayram (28:27), Marie-Claire Hayes (29:10), Pieter Grobbelaar (30:39), Ellie Canning (30:50) and Nitin Daya (30:58).
The volunteers who made this 292nd event possible, were Renette de Sousa, Antoinette Herbst, Lizette Jansen van Rensburg, Séan Jansen van Rensburg, Jennifer Naidoo, Strini Naidoo, Marion Jean Robertson, Lydia Roets, Zeldine Strydom, Charl van Wyk, Leandri van Wyk, Frans Vermaak and Daniel Wright.
Run directors, Renette de Sousa and Charl van Wyk, invite everyone to join the weekly parkrun at 08:00 on a Saturday.
“You can run, jog or walk at your own pace, as long as you get up and get moving,” said De Sousa.
