Thomas Banga wants to uplift Evander

Support NPO Victorious Love and Hope.

Thomas Banga wants to change and improve things in Evander with his NPO, Victorious Love and Hope. He started this NPO in 2001 while living in the Free State.

Banga moved to Evander in 2022 and wants to continue the work he does through Victorious Love and Hope.

His heart is to help people fighting against substance abuse to kick the habit of abuse and to reintegrate them into society again, find jobs, and start building a life for themselves.

“Something happens in a person’s life to cause them to use drugs or other substances,” said Banga.

He tries to identify the reason a person is using substances and then also attempts to take them to counselling.

He saw a need for a support group in Evander and wants to launch a branch of the South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG) or a support group there.

Thomas Banga wants to help people through his NPO Victorious Love and Hope.

He works closely with Marc Fick, founder of the rehabilitation centre between Secunda and Evander, Yahweh Rapha Recovery Centre. Banga needs the community’s help and businesspeople to come on board.

“We need stakeholders to help others,” said Banga.

Banga works full-time at the mines as a hoist driver and manages the support group and NPO in his free time.

He has done a few projects in Evander with DA Clr Ansie van Marlé. They want to see Evander uplifted, the drug dealers removed, and illegal shops closed.

They have done a few clean-up projects in town. Van Marlé said if every business owner cleaned in front of their business, it would already make Evander look better.
