The competition, aimed at fostering a culture of reading and research among high school learners, is the brainchild of council speaker Fikile Magagamela.

“We want to encourage young people to read, research, and articulate their thoughts. This competition is one way to do that,” said Magagamela.

They also recognised outstanding individual performances of Kamogelo Mbonani from Thomas Nhlabathi Secondary School, Fezile Mthombeni from Osizweni Secondary School, and Malik Isra from Thistle Grove Combined School by announcing them as the best speakers of the competition.

Magagamela thanked the sponsors, teachers, adjudicators, and parents for their support in making the event a success.
