Woman who dumps baby, appears in court in Secunda

ER24 declared the baby dead on the scene.

A 32-year-old woman facing charges of concealment of the birth of a newborn baby appeared in the Secunda Magistrate’s Court on May 28.

The court postponed the matter to August 26, pending further investigation.

The woman was arrested at her home in Secunda on February 20 after police followed up on leads of CCTV footage of a vehicle that the woman allegedly used to discard the dead newborn boy in a rubbish bin in the CBD near SuperSPAR, Eastside Centre on Horwood Street on February 19.

A homeless man found the newborn’s body when digging inside the rubbish bin for tins and food.

The baby’s body was in a box and wrapped in a Clicks plastic bag. ER24 declared the baby dead on the scene.
