The Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) released a media statement, detailing this week’s state of reservoirs report.
According to the statement, compiled by Wisane Mavasa, Grootdraai Dam remains at satisfactory levels, despite the slight increase from the previous week’s 101.6%.
The dam currently stands at 101.1%.
The average dam levels for Mpumalanga also saw a marginal decrease, from 100.0% to 99.8%, with the Gert Sibande Distict average dropping from 100.8% to 100.7%.
Other dams in the district showed minor declines, with Vygeboom Dam being the exception with an increase from 98.5% to 100.4%.
Nooitgedacht Dam decreased from 100.6% to 100.4%. Westoe Dam decreased from 98.4% to 97.6%. Morgenstond Dam had a marginal decrease from 100.3% to 100.1%.
Two dams in the district remained stable, Heyshope Dam held its level of 100.8% and Jericho Dam maintained a level of 102.1%.
“The DWS emphasises the importance of water conservation and encourages the public to use water wisely despite most listed dams remaining above 100%,” said Wisane.
