Motorcycle clubs collect more than 2 ton pet food for WetNose
The event collected 2 015 kg of pet food (more than double last year’s donations), 188 blankets, 15 towels, six duvets, 12 beds, a staircase, 27 toys, 15 dog bowls and R5 000 cash to spend on other necessities.
The roads came alive with the sound of engines and the spirit of compassion on June 8 as members of Wing Riders SA and Steelwings SA joined by countless fellow bikers and the public, participated in a charity run for the Wet Nose Animal Rescue Centre.
This annual event, held at Kakiebos Pub & Grill in Rayton, attracted about 500 participants who rode more than 100 bikes and trikes, with several support vehicles – all united by a common cause. The bikers and community members rallied in full force to support the rescue, rehabilitation, and re-homing of abandoned animals.
Thanks to the organisers Zenda Els and Suzette Grobler, and the generosity of members and sponsors, the event collected 2 015 kg of pet food (more than double last year’s donations), 188 blankets, 15 towels, six duvets, 12 beds, a staircase, 27 toys, 15 dog bowls and R5 000 cash to spend on other necessities.

Cameron Herselman and Debbie Buys received the donations on behalf of Wet Nose and thanked every donor. These contributions will support the more than 300 animals currently in the care of Wet Nose, which operates without government or municipal funding.
Every act of kindness – from donations and sponsorships to participation in events like this – helps ensure a second chance for animals who deserve loving homes.
Wet Nose is a registered non-profit organisation dedicated to the rescue, care, and rehoming of abused, abandoned, and neglected animals. Without government funding, Wet Nose relies entirely on the public’s support to care for the animals in its shelter.

Wing Riders SA and Steelwings SA extended heartfelt thanks to all riders, supporters, and businesses that helped make the event a success.
They said Kakiebos Pub & Grill owner Jan Killian went above and beyond to arrange exhibitions and stalls to entertain attendees. Founded in 1983, Wing Riders SA is a community built around the love for Honda Gold Wings – widely known as ‘the bike that makes you smile’.
More than a motorcycle club, Wing Riders SA is an example of biker excellence, camaraderie, and charity. Members come from diverse backgrounds, professions, and walks of life, yet the rumble of engines and the thrill of the ride have united them in a bond that transcends all boundaries.

The association unites under a shared passion for riding and giving back. Wing Riders SA takes pride in being the best and encourages road safety and mutual respect between all road users.
Steelwings Motorcycle Club (MC) was founded in 1991. Since then, the club has grown stronger and currently has 22 chapters across South Africa.
For this charity run, Steelwings members came from as far as Nelspruit to show their support. United by their love for American-made Harley-Davidson motorcycles and the thrill of exploration, they forge a community where every rider is valued, respected, and supported.
