Bronkhorstspruit SAPS conduct GBV awareness campaign

Gender-based violence (GBV) is no longer tolerated and the public should report it at all times.

The office of Social Crime Prevention in Bronkhorstspruit recently led a GBV and domestic violence awareness campaign in the community.

They were joined by representatives from several key departments and organisations, including social development, education, community safety, along with the Community Oriented Substance Use Programme (COSUP), the South African National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (SANCA), and Mali-Martin Phologong.

“The purpose of the campaign was to educate the public, change attitudes and social norms, prevent further violence, and encourage reporting and help-seeking,” said Constable Cathrine Ramovha, corporate communications officer for the Bronkhorstspruit police.

Ramovha emphasised that gender-based violence will no longer be tolerated and urged the public to report all incidents.

“I urge members of the community to give their full cooperation and allow the police to conduct their investigations without hindrance,” she concluded.
