Lindi Masina appointed as Mpumalanga Education MEC in executive shake-up

This announcement was made during a media briefing held by Mpumalanga Premier Mandla Ndlovu on July 15.

Lindi Masina, the former executive mayor of the Govan Mbeki Municipality, has been appointed as the new MEC for Education in Mpumalanga.

This announcement was made during a media briefing held by Mpumalanga Premier Mandla Ndlovu on July 15. Ndlovu unveiled significant changes to the provincial executive council, naming new MECs.

In addition to Masina, Jester Sidell was appointed as MEC for Economic Development and Tourism, Khethiwe Moeketsi as MEC for Agriculture, Rural Development, Land and Environmental Affairs, and Nompumelelo Hlophe as MEC for Social Development.

Ndlovu expressed confidence in the newly appointed leaders, saying the reshuffle is intended to align with the province’s apex priorities.

These include driving inclusive economic growth, creating jobs, reducing poverty and the high cost of living, and building a capable, ethical, and developmental state.

Masina’s appointment follows her recent role as the speaker of the Mpumalanga Legislature, a position she assumed after being nominated by fellow members following the 2024 national and provincial elections.

Masina led the municipality from 2011 until the local government elections in 2016, where Flora Maboa Boltman became the mayor of Govan Mbeki Municipality.
