eMzinoni SAPS hold school safety meeting
eMzinoni SAPS leads school safety meeting at Imbekezelo Primary to tackle cyberbullying and gangsterism among learners.
A successful school safety meeting was held at Imbekezelo Primary School on July 22, led by the local SAPS in collaboration with the safer school management team, including deputy principal Thandi Maphumulo and principal Simon Linda.
The meeting aimed to address safety challenges on the school premises and to strengthen partnerships in the fight against crimes targeting children, including cyberbullying and gangsterism.
According to Sergeant Cynthia Mtshweni, spokesperson for eMzinoni SAPS, a group known as ‘Shaderoom’ has been bullying learners from different schools through physical fights and vulgar online content.
“We are pleading with parents to monitor their children’s cellphone activity, especially on platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook, TikTok and Instagram,” said Mtshweni.
She added that SAPS will be conducting visits to all schools in the area where vulnerable learners are identified, as part of an ongoing initiative to curb learner involvement in criminal activity before it escalates. The school safety meetings form part of a broader effort to ensure a safer learning environment for all children.
