Church guild donates school jerseys to learners in Standerton

This year’s recipient was Earlybird Primary on Leandra Road just outside of town.

As part of their annual missionary project, the Sakhile Methodist Church’s Young Men’s Guild (YMG) donated school jerseys to learners at Earlybird Primary School on August 6.

According to Ronald Simelane, the guild selects a local school annually for outreach, and this year’s recipient was Earlybird Primary on Leandra Road just outside of town.

YMG secretary Sibusiso Simelane opened the handover ceremony with a prayer, expressing hope that the learners would remember this act of generosity and be inspired to perform their acts of kindness one day.

“I remember those who made a difference in my life when I was at school,” he said.

YMG president reverend Lukhanyiso Myalwa encouraged the learners to focus on their education, reminding them that academic success comes from hard work, listening to teachers and parents, and avoiding harmful behaviours such as drug abuse and bullying.

Before doing the donation, regional vice president Jabulani Tshabalala prayed over the jerseys, asking for blessings over the learners who would wear them.

The visit forms part of the YMG’s commitment to community upliftment and faith-driven service.
