Taxi association celebrates Women’s Month in eMbalenhle

The Vukanini Taxi Association (Vukta) held its annual Women’s Month celebration on August 13, at the Raisibe Garden in eMbalenhle.

Annually, the association uses this month to respect elderly women by giving them blankets and preparing a special lunch.

The event was graced by the chairperson of the South African National Taxi Council, Duduzekile Maphumulo, who applauded the association for appreciating the role played by women in the community.

Maphumulo said some women enter the taxi industry when they carry on the legacies of their departed spouses because they have to support their families. Hundred elderly people received blankets from the association.
