Team repairs road in front of retirement village in Standerton

AfriForum, the Lekwa Clean Up Crew and Standerton Superspar have joined together to undertake a massive pothole patching project.

AfriForum, Standerton SUPERSPAR and Kasselman Security Services’ Lekwa Clean Up Crew (LCUC) teamed up to fix potholes in front of Kosmos Retirement Village.

The project started on August 20 and was projected to finish on August 26.

AfriForum sponsored the materials for this project, Standerton SUPERSPAR donated 46 bags of tar and the LCUC tied it all together by providing the workforce.

According to Leon Enslin, chairman of the Standerton branch of AfriForum, the entire project will use a total of 80 bags of tar, which equals to an estimated two tons of tar.

It is common knowledge that maintaining roads within Lekwa is the responsibility of the Lekwa Local Municipality (LLM), however due to a lack of resources many jobs take longer to complete.

“The maintenance on roads is so far behind that Lekwa cannot keep up with their limited resources,” said Enslin.

He shared that the LCUC and AfriForum are planning on taking on many more road maintenance projects together. According to Jandré Kasselman of KSS, the end goal of these projects is to make Standerton a better place for residents.
