People protest in front of Standerton courthouse
The Justice 4 All Network is outraged by the outcome of the 59 year old man who was found with child sexual abuse material's bail application.
Protestors from the #Justice4All Network gathered outside the Standerton Magistrate’s Court on August 28 to oppose bail for the 59-year-old man arrested for possession of nearly one million images depicting child pornography.
Many held up placards reading ‘No bail’ and ‘Justice for all’. The group strongly opposed the bail application of the accused, reflecting the views of many in the community.
After judgment was delivered, Mbali Luthuli, spokesperson for the group, stated that they were angry and devastated.
“This verdict proves to us that children have no rights,” said Luthuli.
The #Justice4All Network believes the fact that the man resides next to a crèche did not play a role in the decision to grant bail.
Luthuli added that the release was a clear message to other perpetrators to continue offending.
“Children have no one to protect them, even in our own justice system,” she said.
The verdict has left many feeling that the justice system is failing society.
