Parkrunners everywhere get moving

Here is what happened at the parkruns in Bapsfontein, Bronkhorstspruit and Delmas on August 30.

Parkrunners throughout the distribution area of Streeknuus took to their local outdoor routes on Saturday to get healthy exercise. Event #254 at Bronkhorstspruit was the setting for eight new personal best times.

The parkrunners who set new times were Roelf van Craan (30:18), Thamia Makola (33:26), Larochelle Nel (33:26), Elayne Stoltz (41:09), Stefan Bosch (45:56), Elzie Bronn (48:34), Sas Bronn (53:04) and Werner Fuls (55:02).

The first handful of finishers of the 5km route were the junior runner Hanru Herbst (23:50), followed by Karen Pepper (24:03), Anne-Marie Coetzee (25:23), Christiaan Steyl (28:04) and Jan Hendrik Coetzee (29:22).

The volunteers who made the event possible are Andre de Lange, Gonasagree Govender, Erhard Krüger, Anje Maree, Jaco Pretorius, Bhavna Rampersadh, Despina Rockas, Filia Rockas, Rina Roos and Casper Strydom.

In Delmas, 21 people took part in the 186th event of the Red Star parkrun at Red Star Raceway. The participants made full use of the tarmac route this week.

Lindi-Ann Greaves (40:44), Arno Botha (43:23), Michael-Paul Daniels (46:20), Lindiwe Magampa (50:31) and Aretha Mohlala (55:59) improved their personal best times.

The first five finishers were Abraham Smit (19:09), Bongani Mtsweni (22:32), Lyza Abia Magampa (24:38), Claire King (38:59) and Lindi-Ann Greaves.

The volunteers who made the event possible were Mia Basson, Brittani Grassman, Jacqueline Grassman and Zahn Grassman. Little Anabel Marais improved her personal best time at the Bapsfontein Hotel parkrun on August 30.

This 185th event had four newcomers among the 29 parkrunners.

The first few finishers were Liam Robb (23:58), Alex Elsworth (24:01), Migael Marais (25:01), Clive Whitlow (26:51) and Daniƫl Marais (29:00).

Charles de Beer, Duval Raymond de Kock, Lisa de Kock, Peorina Dell, Alex Elsworth, Mick Grewar, Leandra Swart and Wynand Wolmarans volunteered. Parkrun takes place at venues throughout the country on Saturdays at 08:00.
