Soccer academy in Leandra receives international recognition
The Sporting Director and Head of Youth Development at Assyriska FF praised Wesley Ntshangase for his leadership and character.
The I Promise Soccer Academy, based in Leandra and founded by international soccer star Wesley Ntshangase, has received international recognition for its role in developing young talent to compete on the global stage.
Ninous Toma, Sporting Director and Head of Youth Development at Assyriska FF, a professional Swedish football club, praised Ntshangase not only for his footballing ability but also for his leadership and character.
“Beyond his football skills, Ntshangase stood out as an extraordinary individual in the dressing room, always encouraging, supporting, and lifting his teammates.
“He was not only a valuable asset to the club but also a true role model for many of our younger players. His presence left a lasting impression, and he quickly became one of the most appreciated players and personalities within our club,” said Toma.
Toma expressed pride in seeing Ntshangase give back to his community through the academy.
“It fills me with pride and joy to see him now giving back to his community by founding the I Promise Football School in Leandra, in his home country South Africa.”
He added that even when Ntshangase is abroad, the academy continues to provide not only football training but also life skills and personal development support for children.
“The project embodies exactly what football should stand for: hope, opportunity and a brighter future for the next generation,” said Toma.
Toma, who has worked with many football talents worldwide, recalled his discovery of Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush, now a star at Manchester City in the English Premier League. He emphasised that the academy in Leandra holds similar promise for future stars.
“Looking ahead, we hope to meet in South Africa during the first week of December to further develop the football school. Our goal is not only to strengthen the children’s football education but also to support their schoolwork and daily lives.

“Together, we want to help them take steps toward their dreams and perhaps one day Europe’s great football stages. We are open to collaborations.
“With Ntshangase’s inspiring example and the children’s passion as our foundation, let us move forward together and build a future full of opportunities,” said Toma.
Ntshangase is currently playing for FK Mitrovica, a Turkish side in Europe. He said he has been waiting for this moment, with his move to Europe aimed at paving the way for his football school.
The team has offered him a one-year deal with an option, which could see him move to an Italian team linked to the club after the coming season, should the option be exercised.
