Grootdraai Dam remains stable for three consecutive weeks

Grootdraai Dam is the only listed dam in the Gert Sibande district to remain stable.

The Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) released their weekly state of reservoirs report on September 3, detailing water levels in Mpumalanga.

According to the report, Grootdraai Dam has held steady at 98.6% for the third consecutive week.

The average water levels across the province have dropped from 97.3% to 96.7%, whilst the Gert Sibande district average dropped to 97.7%.
All other listed dams in the Gert Sibande District continue to record declines.

Nooitgedacht Dam declined from 99.0% to 97.9%, Vygeboom Dam showed marginal declines from 99.7% to 99.4% and Jericho Dam declined from 93.2% to 92.5%.

Westoe Dam recorded declines from 77.6% to 75.8%.

Morgenstond Dam showed declines from 99.8% to 99.7% and Heyshope Dam declined slightly from 99.9% to 99.8%.

The DWS continues to urge the public to use water sparingly and report leaks to encourage water conservation.
