Classes halted at academy in Delmas in memory of slain manager

A memorial in honour of Ntsako Baloyi was held at the Delmas campus on September 9.

Classes at the Buhle Farmers’ Academy grinded to a halt this week as the faculty, students and the community mourned the death of the campus manager, Ntsako Baloyi.

Baloyi was shot dead in his vehicle on the academy grounds along the R42 in Delmas on September 3. Delmas police were called to the scene of the murder at around 16:00 that afternoon.

They found Baloyi in the driver’s seat of a white Kia parked on a gravel road.

The passenger, the terrain manager, had been inspecting the grounds with the deceased and had stopped on the gravel road near the water tanks.

According to the police, the two men noticed a black VW Polo stopping not far from their location. An unknown man walked up to the driver’s door and suddenly opened fire, killing Baloyi. The suspect fled the scene in the black Polo.

The motive behind the murder is still unknown at this stage. A memorial in honour of Baloyi was held at the Delmas campus on September 9.
Campus security was also significantly increased after the attack.
