VF plus pressures Lekwa for road maintenance

After immense pressure from the VF Plus, Lekwa has restored the road in Charl Cilliers Street.

The Freedom Front Plus Standerton branch has applied significant pressure on the Lekwa Local Municipality to carry out a road maintenance project on Charl Cilliers Street.

According to VF Plus Ward 10 Councillor Wilma Venter, the road is extremely important. It serves not only as the access route to the Standerton Police Station but also as the main thoroughfare used daily by parents driving their children to pre-schools.

“The state of the road has posed serious dangers to motorists, pedestrians and children for a long time,” stated Venter.

She added that the municipality’s decision to repair the road only after pressure from the VF Plus highlights how weak maintenance and poor service delivery can negatively impact the community.

“The VF Plus will continue to hold the municipality accountable for the timely and efficient service delivery that the law requires and residents deserve,” concluded Venter.
