Operation Shanela continues in Lekwa

This operation is aimed at promoting cleanliness and addressing the problem of illegal dumping across all wards.

After the initial launch of Operation Shanela in Ward 1 on September 8, the initiative has travelled across Lekwa, with the most recent campaign taking place in Ward 5 on September 22.

According to Lubabalo Majenge, communications manager for the Lekwa Local Municipality, this operation is aimed at promoting cleanliness and addressing the problem of illegal dumping across all wards.

The initiative is led by MMC for Community Services and Safety, Mapaseka Molaba.

“This campaign seeks to restore dignity, improve public health, and create a safe environment for residents,” said Majenge.

The operation continued in Ward 7 on September 10, Ward 6 on September 15, Ward 10 on September 16, and Ward 15 on September 17.

Work carried out as part of this operation is conducted by municipal workers and the Community Work Programme.
