Dancers from Evander High School compete at the DTMA National Awards

Several learners obtained top spots and qualified for international competitions.

Learners from Evander High School and Visionary Dance School competed for top spots at the DTMA National Awards, held at Carnival City in September.

Smilo Mathibela won the Queen B’s Amapiano Most Dynamic Award with a score of 90.3% and has been chosen to compete at Disney World in the World Dance Competition in mid-2026.

Vyonne Jason scored 89.2% in hip hop, earning second place, while Prince Maseko achieved 91.3% in his hip hop division. Snakhokonke Maduna placed third in the freestyle division with 85.6%, and Precandre Fourie scored 86% for freestyle.

Katlego Motsoeneng received the special award as Overall Beginner Hip Hop Dancer with 91.3%. Kasi Vibe earned the Amapiano Special and Most Entertaining Award with 90.2%.

In the Beginner Amapiano division, Snethemba Mnguni came second, with Uyanda Tshabalala in third. In the Novice Amapiano category, Shudufatso Mashau placed second, and Siphokazi Mthiya third.

Owami Nhlapo won first place and took the overall title in the Amapiano Pre-Amateur division and has been selected to compete on the MSC Opera Ship in the Galaxy of the Ocean Championships from March 16 to 20, 2026.

Refilwe Chomane finished second in this division. In the duet category, Charnel Samual and Ofentse Motaung claimed the overall win with 90.1%.
