Moths’ shellhole in Secunda celebrates 40 years

Secunda’s Mukumbura Shellhole turned 40 years old.

A milestone 40th birthday celebration was held at Mukumbura Shellhole on October 11.

Mukumbura was founded on October 31, 1985, with committee members Johnny Johnson (Old Bill), Karel van Heerden (Deputy Old Bill), Sjon Bleeker (Pay Bill), Brian Wickens (Adjutant) and Charlie Milner (Sergeant-Major).

Mukumbura Shellhole is a group of the Memorable Order of Tin Hats (Moth), men and women who served in the military and police.

At one stage, there were 39 members. Today, there are 10 members with one Moth supporter.

Mukumbura will be hosting the annual Remembrance Day Parade on November 8, where tribute will be paid to the fallen heroes.

The public is welcome to attend this memorial event at 101 Besterecta, Nelson Mandela Drive, Secunda.
