CAER promotes fire and life safety awareness to young patients in Trichardt

CAER aims to promote fire and life safety awareness among children through the colouring booklet that is both fun and informative.

The group Community Awareness Emergency Response (CAER) delivered fire and life safety awareness colouring booklets to Mediclinic Highveld in Trichardt on October 30.

The vibrant and educational booklets are now available in all children’s hospital wards, offering young patients an engaging way to learn vital safety messages.

The initiative aims to promote fire and life safety awareness among children in a format that is both fun and informative.

Topics include:
• Fireman is my friend
• What’s hot and what is not
• Stop, drop and roll when your clothes catch fire
• Crawl low under the smoke
• Never touch matches and lighters; always call an adult
• Bicycle safety
• Smoke alarms save lives
• Buckle-up seat belt safety
• Bus safety
• Safety in and around water

Through creative illustrations and interactive activities, the colouring books help children understand important safety principles while they recover in hospital.

“CAER extends heartfelt thanks to all colleagues who contributed to making this initiative a reality. Their dedication to community safety and child-friendly education is deeply appreciated,” said Zola Mathibela, CAER member.

She added that this effort reflects CAER’s ongoing commitment to supporting local healthcare facilities and enhancing public safety through outreach and education.
