Vaalrivier School in Standerton boasts SA champ

Mlondi Gule (16), a learner at Vaalrivier School, won the Mpumalanga Cross Country Championship two years in a row.

Mlondi has been part of the school’s cross-country team for four years. With hard work and commitment, he won the Mpumalanga championship in 2024 and 2025.

Besides running, he plays soccer and goes to the gym to retain his fitness. Mlondi dreams of becoming a professional soccer player for the Orlando Pirates.

His role model is Eliud Kipchoge, a long-distance runner from Kenya, who competed in the Summer Olympics many times and won several medals.
