Students from the Universal Shotokan Karate Union (USKU) and Shotokan Karate International South Africa (SKISA) were awarded for their top performance during 2025 at the annual Mpumalanga Karate Association awards ceremony on November 15 at the Sasol Recreational Club.
USKU’s sensei Breshnev Dhlamini was awarded the sportsman of the year, and Standerton’s SKISA student Amelia Sehaar was the sportswoman of the Year.
USKU students obtained the following awards:
Onthathile Motsoeneng – most improved karateka of the year in the development category.
Sandakahle Dhlamini – most improved karateka of the year award in the elite category.
Lutendo Netshivhazwaulu – the rising star award.
Sbongokuhle Mahlangu – men’s development karateka of the year.
Lea Kidson – women’s development karateka of the year.
