Ayesha Amod Ebrahim (12) represented Standerton Primary School at the Math, Science and Technology (MST) Competition and received first place for mathematics at the provincial level.
This Grade Six learner absolutely loves practising mathematics and memorising formulas. Her favourite teacher is Daleen Podges, who teaches her maths class.
“She makes the class fun and plays games with us,” said Ayesha.
Though Ayesha is still undecided about what she wants to do after school, she is considering becoming a chartered accountant or an engineer.
Ayesha has a great love for mathematics, but she excels in other subjects as well.

Despite her shy demeanour, she is talented at presenting speeches and even won the Afrikaans Spelling Bee, where she had to memorise 90 words.
When she is not hard at work studying, Ayesha enjoys drawing and painting. Her favourite subjects to paint are flowers and gardens.
Ayesha’s role model is her mother, Sagida Ebrahim.
“She is kind and hardworking, and I want to be like her,” said Ayesha.
According to Ayesha, the recipe for success when it comes to studying is to listen in class and to start preparing at least two weeks before exams.
