The arrests were made, and the price of bail was blood, during the South African National Blood Service (SANBS) Jail-a-Friend event on November 22.
In total, 99 donors donated blood, each pint of which can save up to three lives. From this Jail-a-Friend event alone, up to 297 lives can be saved.
Each “arrestee” had to find 10 blood donors for their release.
Those “arrested”:
• Arisja Misselhorn (Ridge Times editor);
• Jess de Klerk (NTT Nissan);
• Mariaan Chamberlain (DA);
• Magda Maré (Laerskool Secunda);
• Nandipha Sosibo (Grubhouse);
• Lisa Posthumus (donor committee member);
• Mthokozisi Sibanyoni (donor committee member);
• Walter van der Merwe (donor committee member);
• Bridgett Roelofse (donor committee member);
• Reece Palmer (Secunda Round Table 231);
• Sonia Boucher (Sonia Boucher Photography).
With the festive season almost here, more blood is needed, so why not donate at the SANBS building, Grand Palace, on Heunis Street?
