Golfers tee off in Secunda to benefit NPOs

Golfers competed for top spots in the first annual PJPS Invitational charity fundraiser held at the Graceland Hotel, Casino and Country Club on December 6.

About 80 golfers competed in the first annual PJPS Invitational charity fundraiser held at the Graceland Hotel, Casino and Country Club on December 6.

The event featured guests Willie Brits, a former Cheetahs and Lions player and a Japan Pro League player; Jaco Kriel, a former Lions and Springbok player; and singer/songwriter and actor Francois Jacobs.

• First place: Team Momotheka’s Peter Lephoto Mali, Zacharia Seotsanyana and Stanley Mtsweni, with 105 points;

• Second place: The Golf and God’s Men’s Given Ngobeni, Thomas Simelane, Sibusiso Mlangeni and Marius Grobler, on 101 points;

• Third place: The Lions – Jaco Kriel, Willie Brits, Nico Swarts and Francois Jacobs – came third with 100 points;

• Longest drive on hole eight: Anvor Schoony;

• Longest drive on hole 14: Nico Swartz;

• Nearest to the pin on hole nine: Given Ngobeni.

The NPOs that benefitted from this event were the Sakhisizwe Old Age Home, the Janelle Huis Child and Youth Care Centre and Delta 1 Rescue Diving. The organisers thanked all their sponsors for making this event possible.
