UPDATE: People throw baboon with stones

Tanja Ackerman of Secunda Wildlife Rescue, again urged the community not to throw stones at the baboon or try to shoot it.

The baboon that had been spotted in Secunda yesterday was seen again today on a house’s roof, but took off when some residents threw stones at the animal..

Tanja Ackerman of Secunda Wildlife Rescue, again urged the community not to throw stones at the baboon or try to shoot it. She said people must please leave the animal alone and simply report it when they see the primate.

“We are trying to locate him so that we can dart him and take him to a place of rehabilitation,” said Ackerman.

She pleaded with the community to step back and not show up in numbers if the baboon is spotted somewhere.
