SHS brings home gold achieved at the inter-high
Dandré Swart was crowned the Junior Victor Ludorum after setting news records in shot put and discus.
Standerton High School competed at the inter-high athletics meet, hosted by Volksrust High School on February 21. Several athletes gave their all on the field and received gold medals for their respective events.
Micke van Vuren won a gold medal in the girls U14 discus, setting a new record of 31.53m. Leche Kukkuk won the gold in the girls’ U15 discus. Sheriq de Lange won gold in the girls’ U15 300m hurdles.
Anzel Brooker received a gold medal in the girls’ U16 shot put. Bonsiwe Sibanyoni clinched the gold in both the 100m and 200m sprints for girls U19.
The U15 boys relay team won gold medals. Lihan Swart bagged the gold in shotput and discus.
Jayden Pretorius won a gold medal in shot put for boys U19, while U19 sprinter Success Tekel snatched the gold in the 200m race. It was a particularly successful meet for U14 athlete Dandré Swart, who won gold in shot put and discus. He also set new records in both events.
Dandré improved the discus record to 45.85m and the record in shotput to 13.81m. He was also announced as the Junior Victor Ludorum.
