Community imbizo strengthens police-community relations in Trichardt

Residents of the Holfontein Informal Settlement gathered for a community imbizo hosted by SAPS on May 10, aimed at strengthening ties between law enforcement and the community while tackling local crime through cooperation and active community involvement.

The police hosted a community imbizo (gathering) at the Holfontein informal settlement on May 10 to strengthen cooperation between residents and law enforcement.

The outreach programme aimed to establish a Sector Crime Forum that will work closely with the police to address criminal activities affecting the community.

During the gathering, residents were given an opportunity to raise concerns, seek clarity on policing matters, and engage openly with SAPS officials.

“The interaction aims to build trust and strengthen the relationship between community members and the police by providing residents with a platform to raise their concerns, seek clarity, and openly engage during the community imbizo,” said Trichardt SAPS Vispol Commander, Warrant Officer Jabulani Mnisi.

“The outreach also seeks to promote safer living conditions for all residents through active community involvement and collaboration with law enforcement agencies,” he added.

In celebration of Mother’s Day, mothers who attended the imbizo were honoured with flowers and warm wishes as a token of appreciation for their role in the community.
