Mayor receives portrait from eMbalenhle artist

Goodman Tibane describes his art as a medium for storytelling and a source of personal freedom.

The Executive Mayor of Govan Mbeki Municipality, Nhlakanipho Zuma, received a hand-drawn portrait from talented eMbalenhle artist Goodman Tibane on May 15.

Tibane visited Zuma to personally hand over the artwork, which serves as a testament to the creative potential flourishing within the local community.

Having fallen in love with portraiture at a young age, Tibane describes his art as a medium for storytelling and a source of personal freedom.

“I feel free when I am drawing. My dream is to see my talent expand even further and to begin working on much larger scales,” said Tibane.

Accepting the portrait, Zuma expressed pride in Tibane’s dedication and artistic skill.

Zuma noted that such excellence highlights the abundance of untapped talent within the Govan Mbeki area and reiterated the importance of supporting local creators who bring pride to the community.

The municipality has encouraged residents and art lovers to support local entrepreneurs and artists, such as Tibane.
