Hijacker shoots Botleng-resident in front of his son

“Look out for strangers on foot and / or vehicles in the vicinity. If a car follows you or someone on foot looks suspicious, drive around the block and make sure that you are not followed.”

Hijackers shot a Botleng-resident in his garage within earshot of his 12-year-old son on Monday night, August 15.

The child told the police that he had heard a car’s hooter at about 19:30.

Knowing that it was his father returning from work, the boy opened the gate to let his father into the premises.

Due to a power outage in Botleng, it was dark.

The boy was waiting for his father to pull the bakkie into the garage so he could close the gate again when he suddenly noticed two approaching men.

They pointed a gun at the child and told him to keep quiet as they forced him into the garage.

One of the men then got into the bakkie with the father.

The hijackers asked the young boy who else was in the house to which he answered that he was alone.

The boy overheard the man in the bakkie arguing with his father and then he heard two shots.
