Seven alleged thieves to appear in court in Standerton
During the operation and tracing of the suspects, the team comprising Standerton SAPS detectives, a crime prevention unit and Standerton CPF managed to arrest seven suspects. They recovered electrical appliances and devices including two laptops and four plasma television sets, as well as a bag of clothing and suspected nyaope.
Standerton Police made a breakthrough on house burglary and theft suspects the past week.
According to their communications officer, Captain Gibi Mtsweni, the station commander Colonel Josias Keith Africa established a task team after an outcry from the community.
The team was tracing suspects to speed up the investigation of house burglary cases under investigation.
The team comprising Standerton detectives, a crime prevention unit and Standerton CPF arrested the seven suspects. They also recovered electrical appliances and devices, including two laptops and four plasma television sets, as well as a bag of clothes and suspected nyaope.
The value of the recovered items is estimated at R11 000.
The team also recovered a 9mm pistol with a magazine.

The suspects were scheduled to appear in the Standerton Magistrate’s Court on January 12, facing charges of house burglary and theft, as well as unlawful possession of a firearm.
Africa commended the police for a job well done.
The provincial commissioner of SAPS, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela, was said to be overwhelmed by the partnership between community structures and police.
“I strongly believe that the community will now have a peaceful sleep as suspects, who gave them a hard time, are removed from the streets,” the lieutenant general said.
