Missing eMbalenhle man’s body found in dam

Police spokesperson Constable Busi Mthethwa said the police will only confirm the identity once the DNA results are received. She did confirm a murder docket was opened.

Sifiso Kubheka’s family confirmed his body was found in the Roodebank Dam on April 30, although the police first want to verify the identity with a DNA test.

Sifiso Kubheka was reported missing on April 21 and his car was later found abandoned on the road near the old Bracken Mine.

His sister, Zinhle Khubeka, told the Ridge Times that they last saw her brother when he went to visit a friend.

When he did not return home, they tried calling him, but his cellphone rang without being answered. She said that was when the family realised something was wrong.

They went to the police station to report him missing.

“I can confirm that it is his body that was found in the Roodebank Dam because we went to identify him,” said Zinhle.

She confirmed on Friday that the family was preparing for Sifiso’s burial on May 5.

Police spokesperson Constable Busi Mthethwa said the police will only confirm the identity once the DNA results are received.

She did confirm a murder docket was opened.
