Police find bag with ammunition and explosive devices in Vaalbank

Police urge anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of suspect to contact their nearest police station.

A tip off led Vaalbank police in the Dr JS Maroka Municipality to a yard in the Koedoespoort area on February 17 in search of a bag containing ammunition.

The police officers found the bag hidden underneath some wood.

It contained 341 rounds of ammunition for a shotgun, 11 empty magazines for a 9 mm pistol, a rifle magazine, explosive devices and an explosive booster.

No one was in the yard when the police were at the premises, thus no arrests have been made yet. An enquiry has been opened for further investigation.

Police urge anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of suspect to contact their nearest police station.

Alternatively, the community can call the Crime Stop number at 08600 10111 or send information via the MYSAPS App. All received information will be treated as confidential and callers may opt to remain anonymous.

The acting provincial commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General) Zeph Mkhwanazi commended the community for their continued support to police’s effort in crime fighting.

He also applauded the Vaalbank police for their swift response.
