Evander court postpones case against new accused in taxi boss murder

Temsgeh Hoile was arrested on May 7 in Gauteng.

The Evander Magistrate’s Court today, May 9, postponed the case against Temsgeh Hoile to May 15 for a formal bail application.

Hoile was arrested on May 7 in Gauteng and is suspected of being part of a gang involved in the murder of Kinross taxi boss and Vukanini Taxi Association (VUKTA) member, Fannie Khumalo.

Khumalo was shot and killed at his home in November 2021 while preparing his minibuses to transport commuters. He was gunned down by four armed men who shot him several times in the chest.

Three suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder, while two taxi bosses who were allegedly involved took their own lives when police attempted to arrest them.

The case against the three accused is currently being heard in the Delmas High Court and has been postponed until August 2026.

The Evander courtroom was packed with VUKTA members during Hoile’s appearance.
