Bronkies residents are warned not to use tap water

The reservoirs are empty and the sludge is entering the system.

The water flowing from taps in the Bronkhorstspruit area is again not fit for human consumption.

Carenesta de Jager, community leader and municipal specialist in Bronkhorstspruit warns residents not to drink the water from their taps, or even cook with it.

The reservoirs are empty and the sludge is entering the system.

De Jager confirmed that the raw water pump broke down yesterday for the second time this week.

“The thrust assembly has burnt out. They are waiting for the contracted service provider,” said De Jager.

There are no spare pumps available.

The dilapidated Water Treatment Plant has been a point of contention for a long time for residents.
