Eric the dog is given a second chance in life at the Delmas Animal Shelter
“Eric is now one of our staff members and our Shelter Mascot.”
Five years ago Delmas Animal Shelter received a call for help from a neighbouring farm about an injured dog.
The animal was caught in a snare on the farm Klipspruit and was seriously wounded.
The concerned farmer took the dog to the Delmas Animal Shelter on July 14, 2017.
“The snare caused deep lacerations to the dog’s neck and left front leg.
“We named the dog Eric.
“We knew his road to recovery would be a lengthy one, but we were determined that the outcome would be positive,” said Jorinda Verwey from the Delmas Animal Shelter.
Eric’s body and spirit have now completely healed and he has become the shelter’s mascot.
According to the mom and daughter team, Jorinda and Jolandie Verwey, Eric is now living a healthy and happy life at the Delmas Animal Shelter.
“He is now one of our staff members.”
The Verwey-team expressed their gratitude to the farmers who cared enough to bring Eric to the shelter and in this way, saved Eric’s life.
“We also thank everybody who contributed towards Eric’s treatment and recovery.”
The Delmas Animal Shelter is a registered NPC pro-life animal shelter.
To help save animals like Eric and many more from certain death, the shelter is in constant need of donations from the public.
“Please help us to also help others like Eric by donating,” said Jorinda.
There are certain registered donation drop-off points specifically for the Delmas Animal Shelter.

“These are the only drop-off points. If a different drop-off point is used, the Delmas Animal Shelter does not receive the donation that you have given for the animals here at Delmas Animal Shelter.”
