There is hope for drug users in Standerton

Mbongiseni Mngomezulu, a volunteer at Kuyenzeka Kunkulunkulu’s soup kitchen, uses his time to inform attendees of the government’s free rehabilitation programme.
Mngomezulu is also a social worker at the Department of Social Development. This programme includes transport to Nkangala Inpatient Treatment Centre.
The three-month programme begins with a personal session in his office and at the end of the journey, the candidate is tested and presented with a certificate on his ‘clean’ status.
According to a trusted source, this government initiative compares favourably with expensive, private hospitalisation.

Mngomezulu’s wife is a social worker as well and she focuses mainly on the elderly. Reintegration into society is addressed and assistance is provided with family and employment matters.
Kuyenzeka Kunkulunkulu offers weekly soup kitchens to the homeless at the back of a local business. A register is kept up to date as well.
A spokesman of this organisation previously said that the government’s seriousness to deal with society’s substance abuse problem is demonstrated by its professional efforts to combat it.
