Parents in Morgenzon are furious about overcrowding in school

According to information, the enrollment number was supposed to be 900, but the figure now stands at 1 300.

Altogether 81 learners in Morgenzon were not enrolled at Sizakhene Primary School the past week and are sitting at home.

Angry parents closed the school due to overcrowding.

According to a reliable source, letters had been sent as far back as 2020 to the Department of Education in which the dilemma was explained and assistance required.

They asked for mobile classes.

“Nothing positive was achieved,” the source said on Tuesday, January 31.

According to information, the enrollment number was supposed to be 900, but the figure now stands at 1 300.

Learner to teacher ratio increased from 1:36 to 1:58.

The Standerton Advertiser placed a call to the principal, Bheki Dlamini on Tuesday, but the call went unanswered.

A WhatsApp-message was sent to Jasper Zwane, provincial spokesperson of the department on February 1 and comment was requested.

No feedback was received at the time of going to press.
