Motorist knocks over pointsman in Secunda
Towing services and MavCorp caught the fleeing motorist.
A traffic pointsman was knocked over by a vehicle this morning on the R580 road between Secunda and Trichardt.
According to one of the towing services’ drivers, there were two men in the vehicle who hit the pointsman. He climbed back into his vehicle to move it out of the way of the traffic, but then drove away.
GTR, MavCorp and MCR were on the scene and chased him. They alerted the traffic department.
The vehicle was pulled over in PDP Kruger Street near Wespack and taken back to where he hit the pointsman.
His vehicle was searched by the police and they found drugs inside his vehicle. The licence disc had also expired in January.
The pointsman only sustained light injuries.
This was not the first traffic regulating pointsman to be run over this month.
Earlier this month another was hit on the same road at the three-way traffic light as you come into Secunda from Evander’s side.
