Actors warn kids in eMbalenhle about drugs
Nkabinde said they have visited six primary schools and two secondary schools and they are getting positive response from all schools they visited.
The IC Theatre Network, an artist movement in eMbalenhle, held a Funda Mfundi Drugs Awareness School Tour at Shapeve Primary School in eMbalenhle on February 23.
The tour is aimed to caution, inform and educate learners from secondary and primary schools.
According to the movement’s chairperson Absalom Nkabinde, they began this innovative programme with the Methodist Apostolic Church in 2019 to raise awareness about drugs and to bring drug prevention measures into schools and the community at large.
“Our organisation is not only doing awareness and prevention measures, but we also have a programme that focuses on drug addicts and helping them get clean,” said Nkabinde.
The tour is not an isolated programme. The theatre group is also working with other NGOs, government departments and the private sector with similar objectives of the programmes.
