Cullinan once again a tourist attraction
The return of tourists will benefit local businesses and surrounding communities.
After a long absence due to Covid travel restrictions, tourists are beginning to return to the historic town of Cullinan.
The town, known for its diamond mining history, relies heavily on tourism as an economic injection, so the return of tourists is extremely important and welcomed.
“I am thrilled that Cullinan is picking up again,” said Clr Johannes Bekker of Ward 100.
“This is the first French group that has visited Cullinan since Covid. They were impressed by the service they received at one of the restaurants on Oak Avenue.
“After their meal, they also enjoyed an underground mine tour.”
The town’s diamond mine, quaint shops and restaurants have been a popular attraction for tourists, but with the pandemic, many stayed away.
However, this is changing and Cullinan is once again on the map of ‘places to visit’.
The return of tourists will benefit local businesses and surrounding communities.
With more tourists visiting the town, there is a greater demand for accommodation, transportation and other services, which will create employment opportunities and boost the local economy.
