Vagrants move in under bridge in Secunda

The homeless people said they would kill a resident who was taking photos.

The latest place for homeless people to squat is underneath the bridge on Oliver Tambo Drive, between Hoërskool Secunda and Charles Cilliers Street.

Concerned residents said their children feel unsafe walking to and from school on this green strip.

The area under the bridge looks like a rubbish dump since the homeless people invaded the bridge.

The residents said they saw smoke underneath the bridge in the mornings and evenings when the vagrants make fires.

“They are very aggressive and shouted that they would kill me when I took photos of them,” said a resident.

The Ridge Times asked the spokespersons of the Govan Mbeki Municipality, Donald Green and Lucky Mhlongo, for comment, but they had not responded by the time of going to print.
